Abstract

An investigation is reported of the effect of variations in thread-spacing, type of yarn, weave, and fabric shrinkage in setting on the dry wrinkling of nylon shirting fabrics. Wrinkling of fabrics in laboratory tests and in wear was compared with fabric-constructional parameters. A highly significant correlation was established between the reciprocal of a tightness–crimp factor and wrinkling. The expression for this factor is a logical one, but no theory is presented in its support.
