Abstract
The signs of conflict in the organization are actually very common and can-not be ignored, but conflicts within the organization cost the company a lot of time and resource costs every year. But it is possible to achieve positive results from this conflict in the service of workers and institutions, and in the case of knowing the causes and factors of conflict and influencing them in order to influence the behavior of leaders and workers in order to reach the achievement of the company’s goals, where the tension in the workplace is an important cause in creating conflict in the organizations between workers. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the interpersonal conflict on creativity and the mediating role of challenge related stress and hindrance related stress. The proposed model was done through a questionnaire survey with data collected from 205 employees from industrial companies, with 197 valid responses. The analysis examined the relationship between the variables of the proposed model, includes the correlation analysis and hierarchical regression. Furthermore, the study analyses the effects the two types of stress have on creativity. The results of hierarchical linear modelling reveal that interpersonal conflict was positively related to hindrance-related stress but negatively related to challenge-related stress, in other hand, challenge-related stress was significantly and positively related to creativity whereas hin-drance-related stress was negatively related to creativity. We also found that challenge-related and hindrance-related stress mediates relationship between interpersonal conflict and creativity.
