Abstract

Using the Mediterranean as an application case, this study defines a Port Accessibility Index (PAI) useful to measure the accessibility of Mediterranean container ports. Traditionally, accessibility is measured as the quality of maritime links that connect ports together, without considering the port’s characteristics.
