Abstract
Recent researches have challenged natural fibres as a suitable replacement for synthetic fibre for reinforcement in polymer composites for healthy environment. Jute reinforced polymer composites have gained momentum among the natural biofibres due to its properties and applications. This work focusses on the viscoelastic nature of Jute reinforced fibres using the Dynamic mechanical Analysis (DMA) technique. The type of thermoplastic polymer included, size, morphology, loading level and distribution of fibres all affect the performance of the Jute reinforced BSFT-PP composite prepared. The interphase adhesion properties, cross linking effects and the creep compliance of the composites fabricated are identified. The storage modulus values obtained from the DMA data are further investigated using the predicted theoretical models. The models implemented are in good agreement with the experimental data obtained.
