Relational Spirituality: A Psychological-Theological Paradigm for Transformation

Abstract

One of the main goals of writing Relational Spirituality (RS) was to bring together the psychological and theological disciplines into a uni fi ed vision of spiritual transformation that places relationality at the very center. My hope was to dem-onstrate that there is a robust and growing tradition within theology and psychology that converge in their broad narrative of spiritual transformation. This broad narrative suggests that human beings are fundamentally relational, and that we grow, heal, and develop in and through relationships with God and others. One of my goals was to show that bringing these two broad fi elds together provides a richer, more nuanced account of spiritual growth.
