Abstract
In terms of the current overall situation in China, life expectancy for women is significantly higher than that of men. Since 1998, life expectancy for both men and women has increased significantly, but the gap between them has widened until 2018. To analyze the reasons for the difference in life expectancy between men and women, this paper used data on mortality and life expectancy of different age groups from 1998 to 2018, and the Arriaga life expectancy decomposition method, to research both the age and the pathological factors, and to make recommendations to the government and social organizations.
