Abstract

Dr. Howells is Professor of Anthropology at Harvard University, Cam? bridge, Massachusetts. He has been President, 1951, of the American Anthropological Association, and Editor, 1949-1954, of the American Journal of Physical Anthropology. He was recipient of the 1954 Viking Fund Medal in Physical Anthropology. His works include: Mankind So Far, 1944; The Heathens: Primitive Man and His Religions, 1948; and Back of History: The Story of Our Own Origins, 1954.
