Effects of Social Media on Youth: A Case Study of Punjab

Abstract

Purpose: There is a wide scope to assess the effect of social media usage among youth in Punjab, Pakistan. This research work was conducted to check the intensity of usage of social media in Punjab and its effects on educational learning, social behavior and political awareness in youth. Methodology: Survey research was conducted and data related to the study was collected through the questionnaire. Findings: Results shows extensive use of social media declined the socialization among people, specifically youth, although, it increases the convenience and saved a lot of time. Implications: Study is useful for the policy makers and government to check positive effect of social media on youth and how to overcome the negative impact.
