Abstract

WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) is used in this project to simultaneously send data over several channels at high speed. Single mode fiber is favored over Multimode fiber for long-distance communication. As data rate and optical fiber length grow, the quality factor falls. Dispersion effects on an 8-channel dense WDM system at a high data rate will be examined using the Optisystem 10 simulator.
