Inhaled medications in ventilated patients can reduce airway resistance, facilitate dilution, and prevent airway infections. This study aimed to examine the effects of nebulized Eucalyptus (NE) on arterial blood gases (ABG) and physiologic indexes of patients receiving mechanical ventilation (MV). <b>Methods:</b> The current randomized clinical trial was performed in three intensive care units (ICUs) of Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan, Iran. Using purposive sampling method, 70 intubated patients were selected and randomly divided into NE (n=35) and control (n=35) groups. NE group received 4 ml (5%) Eucalyptus in 6 mL normal saline (NS) every 8 hours since intubation to 3 days by a nebulizer. Control group received 10 mL NS in the same way. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and ABG parameters (pH, BE, HCO3, PCO2, SaO2, and PaO2), and the peak inspiratory pressure (PIP) and tidal volume (TV) were equally assessed in both intervention and control groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 13. <b>Results:</b> There was no significant difference between the patients of both groups in terms of vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, and pulse rate), GCS, pH, BE, HCO3, PCO2, SaO2, PaO2, PIP, and TV before the study. 简介:动脉缺氧是危重症患者最常见的表现之一。通气患者吸入药物可减少气道阻力,便于稀释,防止气道感染。本研究旨在探讨雾化桉树(NE)对机械通气(MV)患者动脉血气(ABG)和生理指标的影响。方法:目前的随机临床试验在伊朗伊斯法罕Al-Zahra医院的三个重症监护病房(icu)进行。采用目的抽样方法,选取70例插管患者,随机分为NE组(n=35)和对照组(n=35)。NE组自插管至3 d,每8小时给予4 ml(5%)桉树加入6 ml生理盐水(NS)中。对照组按相同方法给予NS 10 mL。干预组和对照组的格拉斯哥昏迷量表(GCS)和ABG参数(pH、BE、HCO3、PCO2、SaO2和PaO2)以及吸气峰值压力(PIP)和潮气量(TV)均进行同等评估。数据分析采用SPSS软件第13版。结果:两组患者在研究前生命体征(血压、体温、呼吸频率、脉率)、GCS、pH、BE、HCO3、PCO2、SaO2、PaO2、PIP、TV等指标比较,差异均无统计学意义。在ABG参数中,干预组与对照组在干预3天后PaO2、SaO2、PIP差异有统计学意义。结论:吸入性桉树可改善中压患者的氧合,降低气道压力。
