By adopting an approach that makes people more worthy, the idea that educated people can be more effective in industry became popular. This idea began to spread in the Ottoman Empire with The Edict of Gulhane. The developments in the West in areas such as education and law were taken into consideration and tried to be implemented. The aim of this study is to examine the Ottoman books written about the children’s education and their legal status and to study this in the context of repositioning of the child in the society. In this study, which was structured with a qualitative approach, document analysis method was used; the data obtained were analyzed using content analysis method. The findings were examined under three categories: education, game and child law. In the books reviewed, it was found that they included information on the importance of positive sciences, the superiority of reasoning, questioning and concretization of knowledge, the importance of the game, the adoption of the game-based education approach and the reorganization of the legal rights of the children; in the light of this information, repositioning of the child in the society was discussed. The foundation of the reforms made during the republic period dates back to the pre-republic era. Uncovering the works telling us about this period and making them available in the Turkish language are important to be able to witness that period.
