Walang sangit dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada tanaman padi terutama pada masa pada stadia generatif. Ciri khas dari L. oratorius adalah titik berwarna coklat kehitaman pada lateral ventral tubuhnya, tubuh berbentuk robust (lonjong) dengan sayap membraneous, warna tubuh bervariasi; hijau untuknimfa, dan kecoklatan untuk imago. Ukuran tubuh jantan lebih besar daripada betina, panjang tubuh betina antara 17,50–18,00 mm dan lebar tubuh betina antara 2,40–3,00 mm sedangkan panjang tubuh jantan antara 18,00–19,50 mm dan lebar antara 1,95–2,00 mm. Rentang hidup walang sangit mencapai 50 - 83 hari. Informasi terkait perilaku L. oratorius masih belum banyak diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas harian dari L. oratorius di lokasi kebun Biologi FMIPA UNY. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan 3 metode, yaitu Ad-libitum, Focal sampling dan Behavioral sampling. Pada metode Ad-libitumdilakukan pengamatan keseluruhan aktivitas Leptocorisa oratorius dengan 3 kali pengulangan, kemudian pada metode Focalsampling dilakukan pengamatan pada 4 individu Leptocorisa oratorius yang berbeda pada pukul 13:00-17:00 WIB danBehavioral sampling dilakukan untuk mencatat dan mengamati semua perilaku dan mencatat kejadian maupun pola perilaku yang menarik menurut pengamatan. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Aktivitas terbanyak yang teramati adalah kawindengan waktu 404 menit dan dilanjutkan dengan inactive selama 235 menit. Perilaku kawin dilakukan oleh organisme A dan organisme B, kemudian individu C dan D perilaku didominasi oleh perilaku inactive.
