In this paper, a novel ultra wideband (UWB) planer antenna is proposed. The antenna is composed of a circle ring radiator and partially grounded, which occupies about 3 GHz bandwidth covering 6-9 GHz. A quasi-omnidirectional and quasi- symmetrical radiation pattern in y-z plane in the whole frequency band is also obtained. The results validated that the antenna satisfies the requirements of UWB communications, and will be a good solution for UWB applications.
