A Study on the Influencing Factor of Intention to Use Personal Mobility Sharing Services
Currently, diverse efforts are being made to improve the accessibility of public transportation. However, in the case of Busan Metropolitan City, it is difficult to expand accessibility of urban railroads due to the geographical complexity. In this situation, this study proposed the Personal Mobility (PM) sharing service as a means of expanding the connecting modes to enhance accessibility of urban railroads, specifically targeting electric-bicycles and electric-scooter. In this study, we set up a hypothetical scenario assuming the use of PM sharing service as a connecting modes of urban railway, and reviewed the influence factors on the intention to use PM sharing service using the multi-level ordered logistic regression model. For objective analysis, we constructed a travel route between the respondent’s origin and the nearest urban railway station through network analysis to extract their travel distance and average slope. The main results of the study showed that 74.1 percent of bus users and 62.1 percent of private and taxi users were willing to switch to urban railways when PM sharing service was activated. Second, the lower the fare (-), the allowance of the bike path (+), and the clearer weather (+), the more people prefer PM. Third, the higher the age and income (+), the more likely they were to use it in order of bussiness, commuting and leisure travel. In addition the use of walking and bicycle (-), the farther the trip distance (+) and the higher the average slope (+), the higher the intention to use. Fourth, the main effect of the local characteristic variable was not significant, but there was a significant effect in the interaction with other variables. These results are expected to used as basic data for enhancing the utilization rate of urban railways and preparing for new transportation modes measures through the utilization of PM sharing service in the future.
