Nachhaltige Kritik?

The essay is discussing the theoretical background of the present Degrowth-Movement with a focus on the German debate. The main thesis is that major parts of this movement are lacking an adequate understanding of capitalism. Instead the vague term growth is used to explain ecological devastation and climate change and its impact on humankind and nature. Growth is analyzed as a consequence of moral shortcomings as greed, wrong or exaggerated consum or of a growth-ideology, the latter argument is tautologic. Especially Niko Paech, who is dominating the discourse in Germany, takes a conservative point of view, which is usually ignored.
