Objective Structured Clinical Examination: a valid and reliable assessor of clinical competency

In the recent times, there is an increasing awareness regarding the complex problems that have appeared in the education system which cannot be solved by mere intuitive judgment or educated guesswork. Those involved in the education process have to address these challenges and attempt to rectify both the process and the outcome of the policies adopted. The basic educational objective should be defined as “What the learner can do at the end of a course/session/training (that they could not do earlier)”. But the point in question is “How will you decide/conclude that the learner has acquired the desired knowledge/competence/skill?” Does the present evaluation/examination system test all the three basic domains of educational objectives, namely Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor?
