The steam is used in the essential oil extraction process where the steam temperature must be regulated to preserve the oil quality. Online tuning using fuzzy rules did not require accurate model and hence easier to implement. On the other hand, self-tuning using pole-placement method requires the plant parameters to be updated recursively so that the controller gain can be adjusted.
