Health management information systems (HMIS) implementation characteristics that influence the quality of healthcare in private hospitals in kenya
Prior research has posited that successful implementation of a health management information system (HMIS) in health care organizations is a difficult task. Consequently, even hospitals that have implemented HMIS and invested huge amounts of money on these systems are faced with several difficulties that need to be addressed before taking full advantage of these technologies to improve their health care service quality. The lack of improved quality in healthcare may create negative patient perceptions that my hinder their motivation to seek for health care in such facilities. In addition to HMIS implementation challenges, service quality challenges persist in hospitals. Consequently this paper investigates the HMIS implementation characteristics that influence the Service Quality of Healthcare in Private Hospitals in Kenya. The findings indicate that HMIS Relative Advantage, and healthcare dimensions - Quality Responsiveness, Responsibility, and Reliability have a significant influence on the successful use of HMIS.
