The simulation is based on the normalized equations of the machine in the d-q reference frame. The system presented can be used as a generator in HVDC simulation as well as to study the effects of various excitation control techniques. It can also be used as a motor simulator to study the various closed-loop control strategies in variable-speed drive applications.
