By inserting a fiber ring resonator in the external cavity of laser diode with optical feedback, we optimize the chaotic laser source to eliminate the high side-lobe corresponding to the length of external cavity. The side-lobe noise of correlation trace induced by the randomness of chaotic signal and other noise interferences will limit the SNR and measurement range of chaos correlation OTDR.
