In this work a technique for coherence and polarization modulation using 90°-twist nematic liquid crystal spatial light modulators (NLC-SLM) is presented. The change in the statistical properties of the light is achieved by means of computer generated random signals displayed in two 90°-twist NLC-SLMs arranged in an interferometric setup. The efficiency of the proposed technique is demonstrated with experimental results using commercial 90°-twist NLC-SLM specimen Holoeye LC2002.

Ga-doped zinc oxide (GZO) thin films had been deposited by DC magnetron sputtering method at high argon (Ar) gas pressure and 250°C temperature on glass substrates. The Ar sputtering pressure was varied between 12.1 and 12.9 Pa. The results indicated the GZO thin films had a hexagonal wurtzite structure and highly C-axis preferred out-of-plane orientation. As the Ar gas pressure increased, the GZO films (002) diffraction peak intensity gradually decreased, indicating the C-axis preferred out-of-plane orientation became worse. Meanwhile the crystallite size were decreased, indicating the crystal surface became better. The sheet resistance and resistivity both increased with the Ar gas pressure increased which was due to a decreased of both mobility and carrier concentration, and the lowest value of sheet resistance and resistivity was 25Ω/Υ, 1.0519 × 10-3 Ω·cm, respectively. The average transmittance of the GZO thin films in the visible spectra was over 80%,and the optical band gap was smaller than intrinsic Zinc oxide (ZnO).

AlN is generally used as buffer layer for the epitaxial growth of GaN on Si(111) substrate. In this paper , we wok on the AlN buffer layer and investigated the crystal quality the doped and undoped Si. Compared with the sample without Si doped, AlN:Si could improve the GaN layer crystal quality. Whereas, the coefficient of doped Si could be found. With suitable the coefficient, crack-free 2.0μm GaN was obtained and the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of (002) plane measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD) was as low as 680arcsec. In the image of cross-section measured by scanner electron microscope, we could not find the "wedge groove "crack.

A composed of Si nanowire and conducting polymer (Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): Poly(styrenesulfonate), PEDOT:PSS) with core/shell array structure as inorganic-organic hybrid photoanode is proposed and characterized. For the hybrid photoanode design, a PEDOT/PSS layer conformally coated on Si nanowire arrays by solution filling and drying method, which is employed to collect photogenerated holes and serve as catalytic electrode to drive electrochemical reaction. A photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells based on the hybrid photoanode is demonstrated with improved power conversion efficiency a by 1.8 times as compared to that of Si nanowire arrays photoanode. The results reveal the Si/PEDOT:PSS core/shell nanowires arrays to be an alternative hybrid system for solar energy conversion.

The method of CO2 laser welding with filler wire was used to join the dissimilar high strength aluminum alloy 2024 and 7075. This paper represented the effect of welding procedure to the appearance of weld bead, the porosity and the instability of the welding process. The mechanism was studied. By analyzing the microstructure and strengthening phase of weld bead, the causes of defects and the impact on the mechanical property are discussed. Moreover, we contrasted the microstructure and mechanical properties of the weld beads welded by filling two different weld wires, and analyzed the reason of their differences.

A nonlocal total variation (NLTV) scheme for image debluring has already been proposed in the literature. The goal of the present article is to study this scheme in the context of image denoising. We establish that its performance is comparable to non-local means and better than the classical total variation denoising approach. However, we show that the nonlocal total variation scheme is essentially a neighborhood filter and therefore a local one. In order to obtain a truly nonlocal scheme and so as to use redundancy in the whole image, we propose a new energy functional that includes a Fourier term. We call this new scheme spatial-frequency domain nonlocal total variation (SFNLTV). Experiments show that SFNLTV outperforms in most cases non-local means and NLTV algorithms, both in term of Euclidean criteria (PSNR) and visually.

Based on the analysis of the emission spectrum, a simple model describing the performance of wavelength tunable Yb3+:YAG laser is developed. In the model, Yb3+:YAG is treated as the homogeneously broadened amplifier. Firstly, the comparison between the calculated and experimental results are made to verify the validity of the model. Then the laser performances for different crystal length and Yb3+ concentration are studied.

Cantilever Strain Sensor system based on long-period fiber grating (LPG) is presented. Strain response of the transmission intensity of the LPG is investigated. Experimental results show that a transmission intensity of LPG changed with the changing of the strain. And the main transmission intensity of the LPG unchanged, which can used to detect the temperature. The sensitivity of this sensor is up to 0.75 dB / N over a range from 0.5 to 5N. It indicates the LPG cantilever strain sensor is feasible to measure strain and temperature simultaneously.

A new unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene compound, 1-[(2-methyl-5-(4-aldehydephenyl)-3-thienyl)]-2-(5-cyano-1, 5-dimethyl-4-pyrryl) perfluorocyclopentene (1o), was synthesized and its photochromic behavior, kinetics properties optical storage properties were investigated in detail both in solution and PMMA amorphous film. The results showed that this compound had good thermal stability and exhibited pronounced reversible photochromism, changing from colorless to mediumpurple in solution whereas to mediumslateblue in PMMA amorphous film after irradiation with 297 nm UV light, which may be attributed to giving a bathochromic shift in PMMA amorphous film. The colorless open form with fluorescence character could be regenerated by irradiation with visible light. The cyano group and its substituted position can availably modulate the optical and electrochemical behaviours of these diarylethene derivatives. In addition, polarization optical recording using this diarylethene as recording medium was performed successfully.

In order to measure the minority carrier lifetime of semiconductor, a method of microwave photoconductivity technique (MW-PCD) based on Doppler Effect is used in this paper. By introducing a frequency shifter and a mixer, the high frequency detection signal is modulated and demodulated to be low frequency received signal, which can reduce the performance requirements of the devices in the received end of system. The key technologies about the selection of laser wavelength and microwave frequency, the design of frequency shifter and mixer are studied. The formula contains all related factors in the measuring process is summed. Experiments show that the resultant curves are consistent with the formula highly, confirming the feasibility of the measurement method. The new measurement method can measure the minority lifetime without destructiveness and contact, reduce system cost, improve the signal to noise ratio, and make great sense in optimizing the performance of semiconductor materials.
