Because of its time-varying nature, the proposed model is capable of capturing the charging process better than conventional time-invariant transfer function models. The overall modeling process constitutes a three-step process, namely, estimation of a continuous time-varying model, segmentation of the model parameter estimates, and finally representing the overall process by a group of piecewise time-invariant models.
