Due to the key role of microcell technology in the future PCN, the importance of handover will be increased considerably. In the paper, a detailed survey on the current handover schemes and channel assignment strategies has been made. Then, a new handover scheme with channel assignment and management strategy based on distributed client-server architecture has been designed and proposed, which could provide better communications quality and performance than those of the current ones in some aspects. This new scheme used in the wireless networks can be compatible with the technology in future B-ISDN generically.
