Traditional current source and voltage source inverter (VSI and CSI) have various conceptual and theoretical barriers with some limitations. All these are overcome by ZSI. It provides a novel power conversion concept. Z source concept can be applied to all ac-ac, dc-dc, ac-dc, dc-ac power conversion. In ZSI, modified PWM signal is used, which accommodates shoot through (ST) signal in order to buck or boost the DC input voltage, from a value between zero and infinity.
