Concurrent mental disorders add an additional £1.8 billion annually to the costs of type 2 diabetes care. This chapter will summarize those mental disorders most commonly associated with type 2 diabetes (depression, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, and dementia). Practical advice for non-specialists in recognizing these disorders and initiating first-line therapy will also be given.
