This study aimed to identify the techniques used to translate French fixed expressions to Indonesian language based on the theory of translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir (2004). It applied descriptive-qualitative method focusing on equivalence in translation. The data collection was carried out by finding the metaphorical suites of words in Gustave Flaubert’s Madame Bovary novel and their equivalents in its Indonesian version Nyonya Bovary. The results showed that, in total, there are three different techniques used by the translator in translating the fixed expressions in the novel. Out of 73 fixed expressions, 61 were translated by modulation, 8 by discursive creation and only 4 by transposition. 固定表达是具有文体价值的词的组合。一个固定表达的意思应该从整体上理解,不能从每一个组成部分单独识别。本研究旨在根据Molina和alir(2004)提出的翻译技巧理论,确定将法语固定表达翻译为印尼语所使用的技巧。它在翻译中采用了描述-定性方法,注重翻译的对等性。数据收集是通过寻找古斯塔夫·福楼拜的小说《包法利夫人》和印尼语版《Nyonya Bovary》中对应的隐喻组来进行的。结果表明,在翻译小说中的固定表达时,译者总共使用了三种不同的技巧。在73个固定表达中,61个是通过调制翻译的,8个是通过话语创造翻译的,只有4个是通过换位翻译的。本文希望对一般翻译研究,特别是法语到印尼语的固定表达的翻译研究做出贡献。
