Service Oriented Architecture adoption model for ICT office in Malaysia
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) was introduce as a methodology or framework that used loosely coupled services or software components, enabling systems to be more flexible and cost-effective. However the adoption of SOA is still at the early stage in many organizations and may not be well understood due to the absence of a methodological framework that would explain influential factors of SOA adoption in organizations. Thus, the aim of this research is to investigate the key factors influencing adoption of Service Oriented Architecture within the private sector in Malaysia and propose a model that improves the decision-making process. Using quantitative approach, the data was gathered via empirical study and analyzed using SPSS and PLS graph tools in order to analyze factor and effect size. The findings showed that not all of the factors identified by previous researchers can be accepted by private sectors in Malaysia, where only nine out of eleven have significant influence to the adoption of SOA. The results extend our knowledge of why organizations should adopt SOA and what they need in order to achieve a high degree of SOA adoption.
