The article describes short history of development of SANET network optical infrastructure for research and education. The current status, new trends and future perspective of optical infrastructure for schools in Slovakia will be presented. The Slovak Academic Network - SANET has been built in frame of SANET II project and the network covers all Slovak universities and scientific institution in 27 Towns. The communication technology which is used is fully based on dark fibre. Several project running on the optical infrastructure. Start with the access to grid and installed supercomputer with MPP on the SANET network infrastructure.
