We investigate sound absorption characteristics of husk embedded into different sizes of holders made of metal-meshed frame and plastic net. Five thicknesses and four densities of husk panels are studied for their sound absorption property. The husk panels, without binding chemicals, display strong sound absorption, 0.97, at specific frequencies that are comparable to that of commercial one at the same thickness. On average, the sound absorption is approximately 0.9. This study shows that husk, by product of rice milling process, could be used as natural sound absorbing material.
