A REGULAÇÃO ASSISTENCIAL NO SUS SOB A LENTE DA TEORIA DA ESTRUTURAÇÃO

This is a review article, which sought to characterize Health Care Regulation within the SUS as a social practice, considering its prerogative of integrating care points in the Health Care Network. In the context of structural complexities of SUS, implemented daily in a scenario of socioeconomic inequalities such as Brazil, regulatory action, based predominantly on normative control, has contributed to generate barriers to access to health services, contrary to its purpose of integrating points of care. It is argued that studying health care regulation and its network integration capacity, based on Antony Giddens' theory of structuring, allows a broader analysis of this phenomenon.
