AR combines computer-generated virtual scenes with the real world to achieve sensory enhancements beyond reality. As the middleware between the operating system layer and the application layer, the AR engine is a platform-based underlying technology and the cornerstone of building an augmented reality ecosystem. In this paper, a new AR engine architecture is proposed, and the core modules such as architecture composition, data management, algorithm integration, and multi-platform support interfaces are described in detail. Also, Nanhu AR engine (NHAR) is developed based on the new architecture.
