A Study of Enterprise Innovation Performance Using the Theory of Structural Holes
The ability to generate a continuous stream of technological innovation has been more important than ever in allowing an enterprise to improve profitability and get sustainable development. It is a hot spot to analyze technology with social network analysis method, especially the analysis of patent technology networks. This study proposes a new approach to identifying the relationship between structural holes and innovation performance of enterprises from the perspectives of co-occurrence based on the theory of structural holes. Specifically, drawing from a sample of 46 enterprises listed in Fortune 500 companies which belong to the electronics industry over 15 years, the results from panel regression model provide support for the hypothesis. The aim at this study is to find out what kind of structural holes level can enable enterprises to obtain the best innovation performance. Thus, we can provide future direction for the development of technology companies. In addition, this study also provides new ideas and methods for the research of enterprises innovation performance.
