A distinctive feature of this archipelago is Russian larch (Larix archangelica) growing in an isolated position in the westernmost point. All in all, 145 lichen species have been recorded from six islands, with the highest richness (90 species) on the largest island Kondostrov. Bryoria fremontii and Lobaria pulmonaria are red-listed in the Russian Federation; six more species, viz.
