This article provides an analysis and example of the development of a digital educational platform, the results of a survey among students, and the problem points encountered in the process of implementation. There are demonstrated stages of development of one of the main elements of the digital educational platform - a virtual laboratory. The virtual laboratory was developed for the discipline \"Electrical machines\". There was realized the model of the laboratory bench, which was used in the traditional mode of teaching.
