Problemy związane z tworzeniem bazy zapożyczeń angielskich w języku polskim w ramach projektu GLAD (Global Anglicism Database)

Problems with respect to building the Polish database of Anglicisms in the context of the GLAD network Summary The aim of this paper is to present the rational behind the international project GLAD (Global Anglicism Database) and to highlight different problems with respect to building the Polish Anglicism database. The data is collected from A Dictionary of European Anglicisms. A Usage Dictionary of Anglicisms in Sixteen European Languages edited by M. Görlach in 2001/2005, Słownik zapożyczeń angielskich w polszczyźnie edited by E. Mańczak-Wohlfeld (2010), various Polish lexicons of foreign words (e.g. Wielki słownik wyrazów obcych PWN edited by M. Bańko in 2003/2018) as well as from both the internet sources, including language corpora, and the contemporary mass media. The problems which arise concern the criteria to determine which Anglicisms should be included in the database. Particular difficulties are found in the case of both internationalisms mistakenly treated as Anglicisms and specialist vocabulary.
