120-GHz-band Close Proximity Wireless Communication Using Metamaterial Integrated Glass Substrate
We have investigated 120-GHz-band high-speed contactless communication that enables to connect to LAN by only placing devices on the desk. We propose a 120-GHz-band waveguide whose upper part is replaced by a glass substrate on which split ring resonators (SRRs) are integrated. We prototyped a waveguide whose upper side is replaced by SRR-integrated glass substrate, and measured the transmission loss of the waveguide with the glass substrate. The transmission loss of the waveguide was about 5 dB, and 1/100 of the 120-GHz-band signal transmitted through the waveguide can be guided to the dielectric sheet in contact with the glass substrate.
