Background oscillation based real time stability evaluation
In order to investigate the stability of power systems, existing background oscillations are utilized. After identifying the target system model parameters from the injected and the propagated oscillations to and from the target system, the stability of the target system has been evaluated through the eigenvalue analysis of the identified discrete time system model. Following several numerical simulations, analog simulator tests have been performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme on the Analog Power System Simulator at the Research Laboratory of the Kyushu Electric Power Co. A longitudinal four-machine infinite bus system has been utilized as a study system to investigate the efficiency of the proposed method. The propagation of the injected background oscillations through the study system clearly indicates the stability level of the study system.
