To overcome the challenge, a new method based on the Granndo model is developed in this paper. The incident and reflected waveforms are obtained through the cable partial discharge calibration experiment, and then the attenuation constant and dispersion constant of Granndo model are determined. The frequency spectrum of reflected wave and the wave velocity under corresponding frequency are determined through the simulation of cable propagation characteristics. Finally, the frequency band of frequency component concentration is selected for positioning calculation, which reduces the positioning error caused by waveform distortion and velocity uncertainty.
