Semantyczno-gramatyczne spojrzenie na Katedrę Najświętszej Marii Panny w Strasburgu (na materiale powieści Dmitrija Głuchowskiego Будущее i jej polskiego przekładu)

The article describes an approach to translation viewed through the prism of functional-communicative grammar concept according to the Galina Zolotova school. The content includes an analysis regarding the most important categories of the theory, which enabled presenting a broad perspective of their realization in the novel Будущее by Dmitrij Głuchowski as well as in its Polish translation. Conducting the study allowed for noticing many nuances within semantic and grammar word constructions in the original and to demonstrate methods of translation applied in the target language. Moreover, these considerations led to the conclusion that the text is a highly complex structure and only a deeper analysis permits to detect connections between means used by the author for ‘painting a picture of the cathedral’, their semantics, morphology and the purpose of usage.
