An architecture for the management of a broadband, multiservice network
This paper describes an architecture which provides the structural frame work for the development of a Telecommunications Management Network (TMN). It is intended that this shall be suitable for the management of a broadband, multi-service network such as the Integrated Broadband Communications (IBC) studied in the CEC RACE programme. The approach taken by the authors has been eclectic and synthetic. The sources of information and approaches used have been many. Some of the most important are CCITT Recommendations and drafts, particularly M. 30, the ISO proposals on OSI Network Management, the work of the UK Alvey project on Advanced Network Systems Architecture (ANSA), the work of the US ANSITIM1.5 committee and British Telecom's Open Network Architecture proposals on Management. A synthesis of these ideas has been made and is presented in this paper.
