Attention in the work is paid to the reason for the actualization of this research in modern conditions. The reasons that forced the leadership of the USSR to organize this study are analyzed. The main objective of this project was to find out the prevalence among students of the practice of listening to foreign radio stations. The researchers paid great attention to the reasons that motivated students to this activity, which is frowned upon by the authorities of the country.
