Tracking is one of most sensitive issue in augmented reality based system. The alignment of virtual and real environment depends upon the accuracy of tracking system. In this paper, we have carried out extensive literature survey of various tracking techniques, such as sensor based, vision and hybrid and limitations of present tracking techniques are discussed.
