In the paper the failure mode and effects during attenuating process in the soft landing are investigated, from which the critical failure mode and the corresponding reliability characteristic parameter are both identified. Accordingly, ground test method for attenuating reliability to simulate the actual attenuating on the Moon is given. Then the attenuating reliability assessment method is accordingly proposed, from which the confidence limit of the reliability can be acquired. Finally, attenuating reliability test of Chang’E-4 Probe is conducted, and the confidence limit of attenuating reliability is provided.
