Therefore, the UIoT has been one of the important topics of standardization in Subcommittee 41 in Joint Technical Committee 1 under the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41). This paper reviews and informs the IoT community on the UIoT activities in the recently established Working Group 7 (WG7) in ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41, named “Maritime, Underwater IoT and Digital Twin Applications.” This paper then discusses standardization strategies for UIoT reference architecture (UIoT RA).
