Developing a 5G network has a lot of challenges. The main challenge is the coverage footprint. The 5G cells have small coverage because 5G networks run at very high frequencies which have very high path loss. In addition to that, the 5G cells are designed to have low heights. Therefore, the likelihood is high of having UE moving back from 5G networks to the lower networks, and vice versa. During that UE needs to make Tracking Area Update. Making Tracking Area Update helps to configure the network to switch the paging messages to a specific network and clear it from the rest 5G network. During the Tracking Area Update, UE cannot make or receive any other sessions. Having more unnecessary Tracking Area Updates yields to have a low quality of service.
