Mastcam image enhancement using estimated point spread functions 使用估计点扩展函数的Mastcam图像增强

This paper summarizes some preliminary results in enhancing the spatial resolution of the left Mastcam images of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) onboard the Mars rover Curiosity. There are two multispectral Mastcam imagers, having 9 bands in each. The left imager has wide field of view, but low resolution whereas the right imager is just the opposite. Our goal is to investigate whether we can use the right Mastcam images to enhance the left Mastcam images. We first estimate the point spread function (PSF) between a pair of left and right Mastcam images using a sparsity based approach. We then apply the estimated PSF to enhance the other left images. Actual Mastcam images were used in our experiments. Preliminary results indicated that the image enhancement performance is mixed. That is, we can achieve good results in some left images and poor results in others. The mixed results point to a new direction for a future study, which involves the use of deep learning based on convolutional neural network (CNN) for PSF estimation and robust deblurring.

Framework for generating and designing spectrum awareness modules for opportunistic networking 为机会网络生成和设计频谱感知模块的框架

For improved spectrum utilization in opportunistic network (OppN), spectrum awareness (SA) metrics can be generated from the synthesis and analysis of both static and dynamic network parameters. However, there are several techniques and algorithms for evaluating network parameters. Hence, a standardized framework is needed for generating SA towards improved spectrum consumption. To the best of our knowledge, no such framework currently exist in literature. In this work, therefore, we propose a novel approach for constructing, justifying and improving SA modules for OppN. Our approach maps different SA metrics to network parameters, which we define as SA integrals. We derive the constant of proportionality (SA constant) between the metrics and the integrals as a function of reliability, computational complexity and latency. The derived SA constants can be used to justify and compare SA techniques and algorithms. Based on the results obtained from the modeling and simulation of an adhoc cognitive radio network, using QualNet, we illustrate the applicability of SA constant as an index (0.0 < SA constant < 1.0) for quantifying the level of SA derivable from any specified SA module.

KeyStroke logs: Are strong passwords enough? 击键日志:强密码足够吗?

As hackers develop sophisticated phishing and social engineering attacks, it is recommended that users be aware of common tactics and implement stronger and unique passwords for sensitive accounts. Malware typically involved in cyber-attacks includes viruses and worms. Keyloggers are designed to track and capture keystrokes made on devices. They are not given the same priority as the other types of malware, but are also considered malicious as it poses the same level of risk. Having a strong password in this instance does not provide a high level of protection as keyloggers will log each key typed. This paper will discuss the characteristics of keylogging software while providing a summary on methods of protection. Three keylogging software are tested against two anti-keylogging programs to identify what information is captured and which method of protection is stronger. A discussion on risk assessment with regards to keyloggers and remediation techniques is also included.

Dynamic Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR) scheme for two-tier network in LTE LTE两层网络的动态分数频率复用(FFR)方案

Femtocell networks are a promising solution to enhance the capacity of the LTE networks, especially for the indoor environments. However, unplanned deployment of the femtocells causes the co-tier interference and cross-tier interference. The interference limits the advantages of deploying the femtocell networks. The Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR) concept is introduced to mitigate the effect of the interference on the system. In this work, Dynamic scheme is proposed to partition the spectrum efficiently. The objective of the proposed scheme is to increase the capacity of the femtocells, which enhances the performance of the system and benefits of fmetocells. The proposed scheme assign less resources for macrocell's part, which has more deployed femtocells in order to reuse as much as possible of the available resources. An experiment is conducted in order to evaluate the proposed scheme. The results indicates that the proposed scheme can increase the capacity of the system.

LTE fallback optimization using decision tree 基于决策树的LTE回退优化

The voice call performance is still a challenge in the current 4G networks, providing the most perfect reliability and accessibility of the voice call is the target that all networks are looking for. Most of the networks have 3G layer that is sorted as backup layer for 4G layer, because 4G layer has less coverage which comes as consequence of mainly two reasons: First reason is the 4G frequency is high in order to have greater bandwidth; second reason is the delay of the sites' civil deployment. 5G networks will add more aggressive effects to these two reasons, such as some operators plan to jump directly from 3G to 5G which means more challenges because 5G needs more bandwidth to achieve super performance that can be done only on very high frequencies which have a small footprint. That means the operators are still in need of 3G. This paper develops a new voice call scenario for 4G layer to fallback. The new scenario will shorten the time of mobile-to-mobile setup time which is one of the main keys that operators compete with each other. The call performance will be found in advance to be a condition in order to roll over the new scenario, and that is optimized and based on individual call process by using the decision tree to have optimal decision.

Enhanced load balancer with multi-layer processing architecture for heavy load over cloud network 增强的负载平衡器,具有多层处理架构,适用于云网络上的高负载

Load balancing is an efficient part of cloud computing environment which confirms that all procedures work similar amount of work in particular time period. The different types of algorithms for load balancing over cloud environment have been implemented with the main goal to develop cloud resources accessible to the end users with easy and accessibility. The main load balancing problem is the run time overload owed to the change of load data amongst CPUs, selection of processes for decision making and transfers the job from processor to processor. The proposed approach analyzes the conditions and divides the load balancing approach in multiple layers. The Multi-queue management policy is used to check and divide requests in multiple queues according to their execution priorities and other layer handles inner requests of the queue over cloud network using network manager. Due to handling of both phases of this area the problem of heavy load processing overcome in various terms like energy consumption, response time, network load. All these terms used to analysis the performance of a system along with heavy load on network. The proposed metrics calculated in .net platform and it achieves the overall 28% approximate enhancement in all the cases.

Multi-modal data fusion of Voice and EMG data for robotic control 机器人控制中语音和肌电数据的多模态融合

Wearable electronic equipment is constantly evolving and is increasing the integration of humans with technology. Available in various forms, these flexible and bendable devices sense and can measure the physiological and muscular changes in the human body and may use those signals to machine control. The MYO gesture band, one such device, captures Electromyography data (EMG) using myoelectric signals and translates them to be used as input signals through some predefined gestures. Use of this device in a multi-modal environment will not only increase the possible types of work that can be accomplished with the help of such device, but it will also help in improving the accuracy of the tasks performed. This paper addresses the fusion of input modalities such as speech and myoelectric signals captured through a microphone and MYO band, respectively, to control a robotic arm. Experimental results obtained as well as their accuracies for performance analysis are also presented.

This paper addresses the fusion of input modalities such as speech and myoelectric signals captured through a microphone and MYO band, respectively, to control a robotic arm. Investigation of IGBT behavior in DC systems with advanced circuit breaker technology 采用先进断路器技术的直流系统IGBT行为研究

Certain advancements have been ongoing in power electronics, DC transmission is looking more advantageous than it ever has. Since the application of power converters and advanced circuit breaker technology, distribution, and transmission of DC energy has become increasingly dependable. Some of the motives for the tendency to select direct current circuit breakers (DCCB) for distributed power systems are clear, while some of the other reasons are not so apparent. The purpose of this paper is to communicate the findings of an investigation into basic IGBT switching behavior and the purpose for the choosing of these DC SSCBs for distributed power systems over the standard systems and devices already in place. Here, some General information about circuit breakers is provided. The two main types of circuit breakers for DC systems are discussed, though there are some other types that exist, we focus on these two types, electromechanical and solid state with preference given to the solid state. The advantages of Solid State circuit breakers are discussed. A mathematical model of IGBT has been conducted and discussed. The last thing outlined in the paper is a section about simulation results and analysis of the IGBT.

No inter-network tracking area update scenario toward 5G network 无面向5G网络的网间跟踪区域更新场景

The 5G network becomes a new layer above the existed 4G, 3G, and 2G networks. Developing a 5G network has a lot of challenges. The main challenge is the coverage footprint. The 5G cells have small coverage because 5G networks run at very high frequencies which have very high path loss. In addition to that, the 5G cells are designed to have low heights. Therefore, the likelihood is high of having UE moving back from 5G networks to the lower networks, and vice versa. During that UE needs to make Tracking Area Update. Making Tracking Area Update helps to configure the network to switch the paging messages to a specific network and clear it from the rest 5G network. During the Tracking Area Update, UE cannot make or receive any other sessions. Having more unnecessary Tracking Area Updates yields to have a low quality of service. This paper produces a new Tracking Area Update and paging scenario for inter-networks which are sorted as collocated networks with 5G network.

Smart power-strip: Home automation by bringing outlets into the IoT 智能插板:通过将插座引入物联网实现家庭自动化

In this paper, a device called the Smart Power-Strip is presented. It functions as a wall outlet adapter that is controlled by a microcontroller and can turn any standard home into an automated home without additional construction. It can obtain information by wi-fi connection or sensors then the microcontroller makes a decision based on the obtained information (e.g., programmed parameters). Furthermore, a user can access information and control devices that are plugged into the Smart Power-Strip remotely by using Blynk, which is designed for the Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, the Smart Power-Strip can bridge the gap between standard homes and the latest in consumer technology.
