On the use of Multiple Beam-Shifters Developed using Transformation Electromagnetics to Control Propagation Characteristics
The theory of Transformation electromagnetics/Transformation Optics (TREM/TO) has emerged recently as a useful technique to design unique electromagnetic devices. One such device is a beam-shifter implemented with a non-homogenous dielectric layer. The invariant form of Maxwell’s equations under particular coordinate transformations is a foundational aspect of this theory, and the development of these beam-shifters. Using this approach, a novel application of multiple up-and down-beam-shifters is proposed and presented here to guide a normalized magnetic field from a half-wave dipole around an irremovable perfect electric conductor (PEC) at 20GHz. This beam-shifter is developed using theory and successfully validated with the full-wave finite element software COMSOL.
