The genre pattern theory is an important scholar’s literary achievement criticism, which offers a new look at the periodization principles at cultural-historical periods, in particular in terms of the transition from postmodernism to post-postmodernism. Mystery, like carnival, realizes itself in the discourse of the contemporary British novel through a modification genre that provides the connection with the mysterious core pattern (the rebirth motive, moral growth; meanings search that brings the character closer to the “spiritual” sphere, moral transformation from “sinful” to “redeemed” and “purified”).
