Sizing of an Autonomous Photovoltaic System for the Anchovy Discharge Vessel Chata DC-3
The energy demand of the anchovy discharge process of the Chata DC-3 vessel is covered by a 50 kW generator set. After the regulation of the anchovy catch, this generation system is oversized, consuming more fuel than necessary. The methodology developed evaluates three sizing proposals for an autonomous photovoltaic system (APS) as the main source of electricity generation. In addition, PV*SOL simulation software is used to obtain dynamic results between an APS and a hybrid photovoltaic system with the support of an additional 5.5 kW generator. Energy efficiency analyzes aspects of solar coverage, useful photovoltaic energy, coefficient of performance and efficiency of the system, being higher for the hybrid system compared to the APS. Regarding the economic aspect, the implementation of an additional generator in the hybrid system considerably reduces the initial investment and return on capital. From the perspective of environmental impact, there is a decrease in pollutant emissions and a reduction in system maintenance times. The simulation of the photovoltaic system and the 3D design of the vessel allow visualizing the shading losses and the real layout of the area for the installation of the elements, as well as the energy balance and flow diagrams of the system. Thus, this study promotes the use of dynamic tools for the visualization of photovoltaic system results in real time, according to geographic coordinates. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the energy demand of an anchovy discharge line, a lighting system and water circulation system is covered.
