Establishment of the single price of natural gas for thermoelectric power plant, its influence on the marginal cost and in the electricity tariff

In Peru, users of the electric service bear the burden of free declaration of natural gas price in thermoelectric generation. We will see the impact that real costs will have, making the free electric market unreal with distorted competitiveness. Situation that influences electricity rates and the incentive to promote competitiveness in the electricity sector. We will analyze the cases of the Panamericana and Rubí Photovoltaic Solar Power Plants, installed in Peru, in the Moqbegua region. We can see the impact on the Premium granted to these renewable energy plants that allowed their investment through the RER Subsidy (PRIMA). Data are adopted for the 2015–2016 tariff year in their respective bus bars.
